Project Abstract

Heavy/Highway Project Scope

The project requires construction of a new bridge bascule pier with operator’s house. The work must be performed from the water with an existing swing span bridge in the area, requiring careful consideration of the staging and support to avoid disruption of operation of the existing bridge. Work may be performed twenty four hours per day and seven days per week, however the shipping channel must not be blocked. Other contractors will be working in the vicinity and your efforts must be coordinated with theirs.

Major Stages of work include:
• Mobilization
• Concrete formwork
• Reinforcing steel
• Concrete placement
• Architectural finishes

Teams will be required to submit a complete bid for the project in accordance with the line items in the Bid Form. Teams will need to consider all elements of bid preparation such as means and methods, quantity take-off, schedule, direct and indirect costs, risk analysis, safety, and community relations.

Teams will be required to determine labor, material, tools and equipment cost and requirements, analyze quotes from subcontractors, and present a CPM schedule for the project.
