ASC Region 1 Announces “Call for Proposals” for Training/Presentations at its upcoming Conference & Competition

The ASC Region 1 Leadership team is proud to announce this Call for Proposals to provide training or presentations at the upcoming 33rd Annual ASC Region 1 Conference & Competition in Albany, NY.  The ASC Regional Conference & Competition brings together the best and brightest up and coming construction talent while also allowing for exchange of ideas among industry partners and the faculty at the colleges and universities throughout the region.  A new part of the annual event, this will provide an opportunity for industry partners as well as faculty at the Region colleges and universities the opportunity to share learning, provide insights into the industry, and provide a way to connect with students both in the competition and those that may attend just to learn more.

Dr. Kathleen Short Receives Excellence in Teaching Award

Region 1 President Erik Backus presented the award to Dr. Short

Dr. Kathleen Short, Assistant Teaching Professor in the Construction Management Program in the Department of Engineering Leadership and Society at Drexel University received the Region 1 Associated Schools of Construction Excellence in Teaching Award at the International conference held in Atlanta, April 20-23, 2022.

This award honors a faculty member’s contribution to construction education, excellence in teaching, service to the Associated Schools of Construction and dedication to the construction profession. Dr. Short was recognized for the work that she did to improve the rigor and content of courses in the Construction Management Program has leading to improved student satisfaction, as well as her efforts to support student organizations and engagement with the construction industry.

Region 1 Mid-Year Meeting

The ASC Region 1 Mid-Year Meeting is coming up on 20 May 2022. Drexel University will be hosting us, but there is also an option to attend online. University members should have received an electronic calendar invite that includes the address but also the Zoom link. If a member did not receive this and wants tot attend, contact Erik Backus.
